Britney has found its Justin.
EW has confirmed that Nathan Keyes has been cast as Justin Timberlake in Lifetime’s upcoming Britney Spears biopic. Timberlake and Spears both rose to pop star fame in the late 1990s and became a power couple before their high-profile split, which Timberlake has suggested inspired his hit song “Cry Me a River.”
Keyes had a recurring role on Crackle’s series Cleaners and popped up in an episode of the fifth season of Glee. Natasha Barrett (Hail Caesar!) was previously cast as Spears when the project was announced in August.
Also joining the project are Clayton Chitty as Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline; Nicole Oliver as the pop star’s mother Lynne Spears; Matthew Harrison as her father Jamie Spears; Tamara Thorsen as Jenna Dewan, who was once romantically linked to Timberlake when she was his backup dancer; Peter Benson as her longtime manager Larry Rudolph; Markian Tarasiuk as choreographer Wade Robson; and Kelly McCabe as Jason Alexander, Spears’ childhood friend to whom she was married for 55 hours in 2004.
Britney will track Spears’ ascent from her Louisiana roots to her struggles in the late 2000s. Spears has not approved the project, as her rep previously told EW that the singer will not be contributing “in any way, shape or form… nor does it have her blessing.”
