Amazon greenlights I Love Dick, The Tick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson
I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and The Tick are all coming back, Amazon announced Tuesday.
In what Amazon is calling is most-watched pilot season ever, the three comedy pilots earned season orders from the Prime streaming service. The full seasons will premiere in 2017.
I Love Dick was adapted from the cult classic novel and examines marriage, love, and desire through the female gaze. Kathryn Hahn (Transparent) stars with Griffin Dunne (Dallas Buyers Club) as a married couple who arrive in the intellectual community of Marfa, Texas. There, they meet Kevin Bacon’s (The Following) character Dick, who begins to unravel the couple’s preconceived notions about relationships. Transparent‘s Jill Soloway directed the pilot and serves as executive producer with Andrea Sperling and Sarah Gubbins also from Transparent.
In Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a super secret agent returning to the world of international intrigue. Kat Foster (Your Family or Mine), Moises Arias (The Middle), and Phylicia Rashad (Creed) round out the supporting cast. Van Damme is also an executive producer on the project.
The Tick is unlike anything viewers will see in movie theaters. The superhero show follows Peter Serafinowicz as the unusual blue-clad superhero who tries to untangle a massive conspiracy that has entrapped his city. Griffin Newman (Vinyl), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and Yara Martinez (Jane The Virgin) costar with Ben Edlund from Supernatural working as writer and an executive producer.
