Tom Hardy knows things about the dead…and that’s completely fine with us.
In a creepy new teaser for FX’s eight-part drama series, Taboo, the Mad Max: Fury Road star shows off his tattoos as he says in voiceover, “When I left from Africa, I thought I was mad.” Later, his character, James Keziah Delaney, says, “I have sworn to do very foolish things.”
Those foolish things will be seen throughout the series co-written by Hardy himself and his father, Chips Hardy, and executive produced by Ridley Scott. Game of Thrones alums Oona Chaplin and Jonathan Pryce also star.
The series follows James in 1814 as he returns to London after spending time in Africa — enough time that people assumed him dead — and attempts to manage what’s left of his father’s shipping empire. Mystery, danger, conspiracies, and, as mentioned earlier, lots of tattoos ensue.
Taboo is set to premiere on FX in early 2017.
