Milo Ventimiglia is excited for a new generation of fans to experience Stars Hollow.
The actor currently stars as a father of three on NBC’s new drama This Is Us, but Gilmore Girls fans love him best as Jess Mariano, Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) bad boy suitor. He’s reprising the fan-favorite role in Netflix’s upcoming revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
What can Ventimiglia reveal about the new show? “Absolutely nothing,” he joked during an appearance on Entertainment Weekly: The Show. But the actor said the hype surrounding the sequel series is to be expected. “It doesn’t surprise me,” he said. “It’s a timeless show. It’s something that people will appreciate for a very long time. And to see new fans that are younger than the age of the original fans, you know, it’s exciting.”
Ventimiglia said executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino didn’t have to twist his arm to return. “I’d always stayed close to Dan and Amy,” he said. “When they said we’re coming back, I’m like, ‘Great, I’ll be there.'”
Entertainment Weekly: The Show dives deep into the current issue of EW on newsstands, covering the biggest pop culture conversations of the day as well as The Must List — a fan favorite for every EW reader. Much like the magazine, EW: The Show will focus on movies, television, music, and books, providing viewers with a smart, funny, and exclusive look at their favorite fandoms — with additional commentary from editor-in-chief Henry Goldblatt.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts Nov. 25. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, and moves to 9 p.m. on Oct. 11.
