Each week, Big Brother host Julie Chen has been answering a few questions about the latest events in the house. Today, she weighs in on the finale and Nicole’s victory over Paul.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, Julie. We have a winner! Give us your take: Did the right person win?

JULIE CHEN: Yes, the right person won. Nicole pulled it out in the end by really winning comp after comp. She performed. It was really a toss-up as to who played a better game. She strategized and made deals with the right people and double-crossed people when she had to. Plus, she had a role in every eviction. It was for sure a toss-up who played a better game but ultimately she won because she didn’t offend people like Paul did.

Paul gave a great final speech, but it wasn’t enough to sway the jury. Why do you think that is?

Paul did a great final plea speech but he didn’t answer the jury questions well. He was brief and unapologetic. He should have shown some remorse for disrespecting Natalie and Michelle in the house.

Did any of the jury votes surprise you?

Paulie voting for Nicole surprised me. He was close with Paul at one point, even looking like twins! Paulie even recognized the skillful game-playing on both their parts but to ultimately not choose his former BFF? Wow.

We’re already getting ready for Big Brother: Over the Top. Tell me about the decision to let the fans select the winner, which hasn’t happened since all the way back in season 1.

We are letting the public decide because it’s a nice reward for our loyal subscribers to get the outcome they want!
