PICK OF THE NIGHT
This Is Us
NBC, 10 p.m.
You’ve seen the trailer (or at least you probably have), but now it’s time to watch the Dan Fogelman-created show itself. Starring Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, and Sterling K. Brown, the pilot follows a group of people who all share a birthday. Be sure to stay on your toes for a pretty big twist — not to mention plenty of tears. For more, check out our critic’s take here.
SEASON PREMIERE
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Fox, 8 p.m.
Andy Samberg’s workplace comedy kicks off season 4 with an enviable coterie of funny guest stars: Maya Rudolph, Rhea Perlman, and Jorma Taccone. (It’ll be followed by the season premiere of New Girl, so it’s like a double dose of quirky sitcoms.)
SERIES DEBUT
Bull
CBS, 9 p.m.
Good news, CBS-loving Michael Weatherly addicts: He’s back! The former NCIS actor stars in this new legal drama as Dr. Jason Bull, an expert trial psychologist based loosely on Dr. Phil (who just so happens to serve as an executive producer).
