On Wednesday, Twenty One Pilots released a cover of My Chemical Romance’s “Cancer” shortly after the group’s lead vocalist, Tyler Joseph, teased its release on social media. Sounding slightly more mournful than the original, the song focuses on death and the difficulty of saying goodbye.

The animated lyric video that accompanies the song uses mainly black-and-white (with the occasional burst of hot pink) illustrations. The cover is featured on the duo’s newest album, Rock Sound Presents: The Black Parade, a tribute album that pays homage to MCR’s 2006 LP, Welcome to the Black Parade.

Twenty One Pilots’ new album is available now, while MCR are releasing a tenth anniversary edition of Welcome to the Black Parade on Sept. 23. Hear the cover above.
