The colors in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic adventure Mad Max: Fury Roard often, deliberately, sear the eyeballs like a poorly-handled guitar-flamethrower. But, now, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced it is releasing on Blu-ray and DVD a blac and white version of the Tom Hardy- and Charlize Theron-starring film, called Mad Max: Fury Road “Black and Chrome” Edition. Last year, Slashfilm reported that Miller had expressed his enthusiasm for this alternative version of the film and insisted it come out on Blu-ray.
Mad Max: Fury Road “Black and Chrome” Edition will be available to purchase from Dec. 6 as part of the Mad Max HIgh Octane Collection, which also includes 1979’s Mad Max, 1981’s Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and the color version Mad Max: Fury Road. The set will also include an introduction to the “Black and Chrome” Edition by Miller, and a featurette called Road War in which Miller, screenwriter Terry Hayes, and Mel Gibson recall the making of Road Warrior. In addition, you can buy the “Black & Chrome” Edition on Blu-ray in a two-film collection which includes that version and the theatrically-released film.
