Last year’s documentary The Nightmare was a genuinely chilling look at the phenomenon of sleep paralysis, in which a person believes themselves to be awake, but is unable to move or speak, no matter what monstrous apparitions may appear before their eyes.

Can the new film Dead Awake, a narrative take on the same subject, top that for scares? We now have our first hint of an answer in the form of a trailer for the movie, which receives its East Coast premiere at the New York horror film festival, FEARnyc, on Oct. 26.

You can learn more about the FEARnyc lineup at the festival’s official site. And you can see the trailer for Dead Awake, above.
