Finally, an American Horror Story trailer that tells us something about the new season!

In the months leading up the American Horror Story season 6 premiere, FX released several promos specifically meant to throw fans off the scent of the new installment’s theme. Following Wednesday night’s season premiere — which was framed as a true-crime docuseries called My Roanoke Nightmare — the network has released a new promo that previews the insanity that’s yet to come.

Based on the trailer, it seems as though season 6 will have shades of the murder house-focused first season. After moving into a farmhouse in North Carolina, Shelby (Sarah Paulson) and Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.) will be terrorized by a knife-wielding Kathy Bathes.

“This place is mine. I protect this place. I shall stop at nothing to hold safe this colony,” threatens Bates in the promo. However, Shelby and Matt won’t be going down without a fight.

Watch the new trailer above, and read our recap of the season premiere here.

American Horror Story airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.

An anthology series that centers on different characters and locations, including a haunted house, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, and a hotel.
