More Marvel hip-hop covers have arrived.

A handful of runs after its Run The Jewels homage, the comic giant has shared more rap variants, with nods to Chance The Rapper, LL Cool J, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Kevin Gates, and Salt-N-Pepa.

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso ran through the tributes on Twitter on Wednesday, after they premiered on Playboy, putting beloved heroes like Netflix stars Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, The Hulk, Iron Man, and Nova into iconic rap imagery.

“Comics and hip-hop share a common narrative: They’re all about underdogs struggling, striving and persevering against overwhelming odds,” Alonso told Playboy. “So it’s no surprise that so many rappers have been influenced by the Marvel mythology or embraced the Marvel heroes over the decades. The hip-hop covers were our way of showing that the love is reciprocal.”

Some of the parallels were easy to pick this time around. “We picked Kevin Gates’ Islah for Jessica Jones because his body language simply nails who she is,” Alonso added. “Ditto for LL’s BAD — the stance, the attitude was all Luke Cage.”

The crossover cover series sprung to life last year with similar mash-ups — modern and classic cuts included.
