Felicia Day and Sean Astin are about to hit the shelves — or at least, the streets of an eerie carnival.

The pair will guest-star in the third season of The Librarians in an episode titled “And The Tears of a Clown,” in which the Librarians investigate a mysterious traveling carnival. Astin plays Kirby Goulding, a vengeful magician who has grown frustrated with his skills over time, until he somehow receives the power of real magic, which he uses to find his childhood crush, Charlotte Halloway, played by Day.

In the exclusive first look photo above, Charlotte looks uncomfortable in Kirby’s clutches — and in front of those scary clowns. But things won’t be looking up for the heroes at the center of the adventure drama either: What the Librarians discover at the carnival will shed light on how dangerous their collection of magical artifacts could be. And to top it all off, in season 3, they’ll have to face off against both the ancient Egyptian God of Chaos and a new threat called the D.O.S.A. (Department of Statistical Anomalies), which aims to take control of the Library.

The Librarians returns Nov. 20 on TNT. “And the Tears of a Clown” airs Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
