As details from the upcoming Baywatch reboot continue to pour out online, Priyanka Chopra has revealed how she landed her part as the villainous Victoria.
“They were speaking to me about [playing] one of the lifeguards in the film Baywatch and I had a Skype call with [director] Seth Gordon, which was supposed to be 15 minutes and it ended up being two hours,” she told W magazine in an interview published Monday. “The character that I’m playing, which is the antagonist in Baywatch, was written for a man, and then he just changed it and thought that a woman would be really interesting and I ended up playing Victoria.”
The film, based on the smash 1989 TV series, will hit theaters May 19, 2017. Dwayne Johnson stars as Mitch Buchannon, a devoted lifeguard who finds a cocky new rival in newcomer Matt Brody (Zac Efron). When the pair eventually unite, they uncover a criminal conspiracy endangering the beach.
Alex Daddario (Summer), Kelly Rohrbach (CJ Parker), Ilfenesh Hadera (Stephanie Holden), and Jon Bass (Ronnie) are also set to appear, while original cast members David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson are slated for cameos.
