The kids of Stranger Things have flaunted a lot of talent off-screen: Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Luke) both graced Broadway with big-stage vocals, and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) can rap “Monster” as if she were Nicki Minaj herself. But can they tackle their hit thriller’s ’80s-set, reality-defying plotline in under 30 seconds?
Matarazzo, McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) stopped by the EW studios to give it their best shot. “Stranger Things is about a boy name Will Byers,” Matarazzo kicks off before delving into the other dimension specifics with his co-stars. “Oh yeah, and there’s a monster who tries to kill everybody,” he says. “I basically said the whole story without spoiling it.”
If you’ve yet to binge the smash series, you should know they expectedly nailed it. Stranger Things centers around a boy sucked into an otherworldly realm called the Upside Down. His family and friends then launch an investigation to find him, enlisting the help of a young girl with supernatural gifts along the way.
Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix, but the cast has already teased what they want to see for its second installment. “For Will, I’d like to see him become evil in a way,” Schnapp told EW earlier this month. “I think it would be pretty cool to play that.”
Stranger Things returns in 2017. Watch the kids of the cast explain its premise in the video above.
