President Obama's Asia trip: Seth Meyers marvels at the events

In order to keep up with all the insanity going on in the world, Seth Meyers on Thursday introduced a new Late Night segment: That Actually Happened. In the inaugural edition, Meyers marveled at President Barack Obama’s trip through Asia, which resulted in a few diplomatic flare-ups. Most notably, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte called Obama “son of a whore” after the president criticized Duterte’s war on drugs.

“That actually happened. The president of the Philippines called President Obama a ‘son of a whore,'” Meyers said. “It’s the worst thing someone’s called a sitting president since someone accidentally referred to George W. Bush as ‘Jeb.’ Or since Churchill called Franklin Roosevelt ‘a rolling back of d—s.'”

“That actually happened. We had an international incident with a major nuclear power over stairs,” Meyers said. “I hope the Chinese can get their act together because the next guy is gonna want an escalator.”
