Die Antwoord denies band will break up in 2017
UPDATE: Die Antwoord’s Vi$$er took to Instagram to clarify that despite the duo’s plans to make their fifth and final album, the pair are not splitting up. Vi$$er said partner Ninja had been misquoted by Exclaim! and they will continue to work on their album and film concluding, “DIE ANTWOORD FOR EVA.”
EARLIER: Die Antwoord are preemptively calling it quits. The South African rap duo will cease to exist as of September 2017.
Ninja told Exclaim!, “Die Antwoord dies on that day. It’s all over. I feel beautiful about it. I’m not scared of the end. I’m a Ninja. I’m not scared of death.” The end of the pair does not come as a surprise as they previously said they would release five albums and “disappear.”
With the fifth and final album arriving this September, Die Antwoord released a new track entitled “Fat Faded F— Face.” Before officially disbanding, Ninja and Vi$$er will have an art show at the Museum of Contemporary Modern Art Africa in Cape Town and release a movie entitled South African Ninja.
Listen to “Fat Faded F— Face” below and hear their album Mount Ninja and Da Nice Kid when it’s out Sept. 16.
