Billy Bob Thornton’s not in Fargo anymore. For his latest small-screen role, the actor plays disgraced lawyer Billy McBride, who, in Amazon’s courtroom drama Goliath, tries to climb out of his boozy spiral to take down Cooperman and McBride, a massive firm he had a hand in creating.
But in the exclusive trailer above, pushing for a wrongful death lawsuit against the legal giant proves harder than he expects — especially considering his tanked reputation — as his foe Donald Cooper (William Hurt) wields power over Billy’s motley crew of lawyers. Not that Billy’s all that concerned: “I’m actually doing this again,” he says, grinning at an ally.
The series, created by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) and Jonathan Shapiro (The Practice), also stars Maria Bello, Tania Raymonde, and Olivia Thirlby. Goliath premieres Oct. 14 on Amazon.
