Virginia Hanlon Grohl has had a pretty unique life as the mother of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl — so she decided to interview the mothers of other famous musicians for an upcoming book titled From Cradle to Stage: Stories From the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars to see how their experiences compare.

The book, out in the spring, features interviews done over a period of two years with Verna Griffin (Dr. Dre), Marianne Stipe (REM’s Michael Stipe), Janis Winehouse (Amy Winehouse), Patsy Noah (Maroon 5’s Adam Levine), Donna Haim (the Haim sisters), and Hester Diamond (the Beastie Boys’ Mike D). It also includes a foreword by Dave and family photographs.

Read From Cradle to Stage when it arrives in stores April 25, 2017, and preorder the collection here.
