Daft Punk’s helmets are the irrefutable iconic look of the electronic group. Two prop makers wanted to take them to the next level.

LoveProps, a prop-crafting duo that creates custom handmade pieces, unveiled and detailed their take on Daft Punk member Guy-Manuel’s headwear.

The complete process took over a year with work everyday, according to LoveProps’ site. With gold-colored plating, beat detection, motion sensors, and more, the light patterns are customizable. “Finishing the unit with the desired quality was a huge odyssey,” the site reads. “A handmade sculpting model, primed cast, great attention to the detail, perfect scale and custom electronics, code and libraries, make this unit more than a helmet.”

See the helmet above. Read about the full process on LoveProps’ site.
