Thursday’s Google Doodle celebrates the 37th anniversary of the children’s fantasy book The Neverending Story, with a slideshow of images portraying scenes from the odyssey.

Michael Ende’s novel follows a boy named Bastian who is magically transported into a magical book called The Neverending Story. Once there, he helps the young warrior Atreyu save the kingdom of Fantastica and learns something about himself in the process. Ende’s story also featured the memorable characters, a friendly dragon named Falkor and the Childlike Empress. The book was adapted into the iconic 1984 film The NeverEnding Story, featuring a real earworm of a theme song.

Google’s Doodle, illustrated by Sophie Diao, features five different scenes from the book. See them below.
