The Kanye West effect is real.

Only days after making waves as the star of West’s new video, “Fade,” Teyana Taylor has been cast in the upcoming VH1 drama, The Breaks

The singer will have a recurring role on the series, which is set in New York City during the 1990s and follows three young friends pursuing their hip-hop dreams. The Breaks is a continuation of the film that aired in January on VH1, and also stars The Wire alums Wood Harris and Tristan “Mack” Wilds.

Previously, Taylor was featured on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen and was a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew. But the West protégé, who is signed to his record label, landed her biggest exposure yet at Sunday’s VMAs. Her performance in “Fade” had Twitter buzzing and everyone wanting to hit the gym on Monday.

The Breaks will premiere in January 2017.
