In Transit on Broadway: Justin Guarini joins a capella musical cast
American Idol alum Justin Guarini is heading back to Broadway for the a cappella musical In Transit.
The production, with a team that includes Frozen co-writer Kristen Anderson-Lopez, announced its full cast and creative lineup on Tuesday morning.
Joining Guarini in the cast are David Abeles (Once), America’s Got Talent contestant Moya Angela (Ghost The Musical), Telly Leung (Allegiance), Erin Mackey (Amazing Grace), Margo Seibert (Rocky), James Snyder (If/Then), Nicholas Ward (On the Town), and Laurel Harris (Beautiful). Others making their Broadway debuts with In Transit include Steven “HeaveN” Cantor (the 2012 American Beatbox vice champion), Gerianne Pérez, Chesney Snow, Mariand Torres, Adam Bashian, and Aurelia Williams.
Guarini made his Broadway debut in the original cast of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in 2010, and has since had roles in productions of Wicked, Romeo and Juliet, and American Idiot.
In Transit, which will feature an a cappella score, is described as a “new, modern musical, bringing to life a vivid tapestry of characters and music in the city that never sleeps… or stands still.” The show’s official description continues, “Inspired by the rhythms of life on the subway, In Transit follows the intertwining lives of 11 New Yorkers who are all hoping to catch the express train to success, love, and happiness — and the stops they make along the way.”
The show opens in previews at Broadway’s Circle in the Square on Nov. 10, with an opening date set for Dec. 11.
