Hit us, Britney…one more time.
In what will be her second TV performance in less than a week, Britney Spears will take center stage on NBC’s TODAY Thursday morning as part of its Citi Concert Series. The morning show juggernaut announced the appearance on air during Tuesday’s broadcast, billing it as a special performance from Las Vegas, where Spears has performed her Planet Hollywood residency concert, Piece of Me, for nearly three years.
It’s been a big month for Spears, who released her ninth studio album, Glory, on Friday and returned to the MTV Video Music Awards stage for the first time in nine years to perform the album’s first single “Make Me…” on Sunday. Following her number with rapper G-Eazy, Spears was criticized by the Parents Television Council for choosing a risqué ensemble.
Spears discussed her performance — which has trended on Facebook since the VMAs — in an interview on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show Monday. Speaking of her dance routine with shadow puppets, Spears said, “We wanted to do something different, something I’ve never done before.”
To prepare yourself for Spears’ next spectacle, take a trip down memory lane with a look at her last performance on TODAY in 2000.
