Kanye West began his Saint Pablo tour Thursday night in Indianapolis in support of his most recent album, The Life of Pablo. Early signs are that West, who has a history of ambitious tour designs, continued the trend.

Fans who entered Bankers Life Fieldhouse noticed there was no traditional stage on the arena floor. An apparatus hung above the ground, which was to be filled by general admission ticket-holders.

Lights eventually dimmed and West came out to perform “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” to open the show and tour. The stage floated and flew around the arena with West rapping out his hits. (West wears a cable to tether him to the platform.)

In the tour supporting Yeezus, West’s set featured a giant snowy mountain in the background and a small army of performers draped in robes and other outfit changes.
