You reap what you sow, and the newest American Horror Story season 6 teaser is sowing more enigmatic creepiness.

The latest in a seemingly inexhaustible stream of FX promos, this one borrows imagery from The Children of the Corn, the enduring horror movie series based on Stephen King’s story about a town ruled by a cult of murderous youths. The 15-second spot, “The Lesson,” features a sextet of students sitting in an cornfield and pounding their desks in unison before turning their vacant eyes skyward.

It’s best not to read too much into the video, though, as FX chief John Landgraf recently revealed that many of the promos are actually red herrings.

“They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story,” he said at TCA earlier this month. “Different genres, different places. I think they’re really fun and funny and beautifully, artfully made … and a lot of them are accurate. The others are all misdirects.”

American Horror Story returns Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. ET. Watch the new teaser above.
