The newly formed VR Society is servicing the demand for virtual reality and augmented reality content with the two-day conference “VR On The Lot,” featuring guest speakers Bryan Singer and Robert Stromberg.

The technology of virtual, augmented, and 360 degree media, pioneered by The Advanced Imaging Society, will be showcased at the event. Among the supporters is Stromberg, two-time Academy Award winner for art direction and director of Disney’s Maleficent and The Martian VR Experience. Stromberg will deliver the opening keynote and serve as a Creative Advisor to the VR Society. “By bringing together Hollywood and entertainment industry professionals with the innovative VR artists, storytellers and technology leaders — we have the opportunity to speed up the exchange of ideas and strategies that will help the industry to deliver quality VR content in significant volume to meet consumer demand,” Stromberg said in a release.

Singer, director of the X-Men franchise, is also set to speak alongside his X-Men: Apocalypse screenwriter Michael Dougherty, and Call of Duty writer John McInnes.

The seminars will be held in Hollywood, California at Paramount Picture Studios to facilitate presentations by the leaders of this growing field, including Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Studios, Intel, Epic Games, Chapman University Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, Entertainment Tonight and more. The major studios will share their latest VR content as well as host sessions on VR best practices, writing, producing, directing, cameras, education and more.

EW parent company Time Inc. will also share Life VR, an “innovative multi-platform virtual reality brand slated to launch this fall, will world premiere exclusive new content at ‘VR On The Lot.'” The program is “an extension of the iconic LIFE brand, will include programming from Time Inc.’s 25+ brands, including TIME, People, Sports Illustrated and InStyle, bringing their access and unique perspective to each immersive experience.”

“VR is an exciting new medium for content producers such as Time Inc., enabling us to take our storytelling to the next level by showing viewers the world in a whole new way. We are thrilled to advance the conversation about this leading-edge immersive technology at ‘VR On The Lot,’ Chris Hercik, SVP, Creative + Content, The Foundry @ Time Inc., said in a statement.

Additionally, Virtual Reality Experience will be featured as a new medium of narrative storytelling. “These aren’t movies, they aren’t television and they aren’t games,” stated conference co-chair and CVP of Content and Alliances at AMD Roy Taylor. “VRE is a new medium and these pieces of content shape unique creative and business opportunities.”

VR Society’s “VR on the Lot” conference will take place at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, California on Oct. 13 and 14. Tickets can be found on the “VR on the Lot” website. Watch the video below for more information on the event.
