La La Land trailer: Emma Stone sings of heartbreak in new clip
Emma Stone is showing off her heavenly pipes in the new teaser trailer for Damien Chazelle’s upcoming musical, La La Land.
The film follows Mia (Stone), an aspiring actress living in Los Angeles who falls for a jazz musician, Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) — both of whom “struggle to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts,” according to a press release.
The new clip features an extended look at La La Land‘s whimsical style, showing off the film’s striking color palette, gorgeous cinematography, and a scene in which Stone and Gosling defy gravity, floating hand-in-hand against the backdrop of a starry night sky.
Stone’s vocals soar over the clip as she belts “Audition,” one of the musical’s original tracks.
“She captured a feeling, sky with no ceiling, the sunset inside a frame,” she sings as scenes of Mia’s budding courtship with Sebastian play. “Here’s to the ones who dream, foolish as they may seem. Here’s to the hearts that ache, here’s to the mess we make.”
