Game of Thrones season 7 has Maisie Williams freaked out
The wait for Game of Thrones‘ season 7 is going to be a long one, and Maisie Williams’ tweets aren’t making it any easier.
After reading the scripts for the show’s penultimate season, Williams, the actress behind the vengeful Arya Stark, offered a succinct, three-word summary for how things shake out: “sh– gets REAL.”
“I’d start preparing yourselves now,” she continued. “Scratch that, nothing will prepare you for this. … holy BALLS.”
Pre-production for the seven-episode season began at the end of July and will begin in earnest by the end of August, a little later than usual for HBO’s flagship series. It will arrive next summer, months later than its usual spring release.
The massively popular fantasy series, based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R. R. Martin, is confirmed for eight seasons total — though HBO is open to the possibility of a spin-off. “We’ve talked about it,” HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys said during the Television Critics Association’s press tour in July. “It’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively.”
The series racked up 23 prime-time 2016 Emmy nominations (including a supporting actress nod for Williams) earlier this summer — more than any other show.
