Coldplay frontman Chris Martin rode shotgun for James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke earlier this year, but Sunday night, Corden was the guest at Martin’s show: The Late Late Show host joined Coldplay onstage to pay tribute to Prince during the band’s Rose Bowl performance.

Corden — donning a Coldplay tour shirt and a Martin-esque bomber jacket — helped Martin sing a rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” at the Pasadena, California concert. In a video from the evening, Corden said the collaboration was Martin’s idea and was a bit unnerved by the massive setting.

“I’ll be honest: I didn’t know how big it was when I said, ‘Yes.’ I’m a little nervous, but thank the four of you — on behalf this audience, as I am just a fan — for this incredible night that you have given us all. Irrespective of my being here, I’ll never forget it. Truly.”

At the end, Martin put Corden back in the spotlight as he led the crowd in a sing-along for Corden’s birthday on Monday before presenting him with a cake.
