There are, for the most part, two kinds of The Tallest Man on Earth songs: beautiful acoustic-folk rock songs about natural landscapes and growing up, and the more experimental ballads that bring in keyboard or electric guitar. “Rivers,” the latest single from the artist (real name Kristian Matsson) fits in the earlier camp, and does its job well. There’s plenty of gorgeous finger-picking and plaintive vocals about how nature doesn’t care about frail human relationships.

The Tallest Man on Earth last released an album, Dark Bird Is Home, in 2015 and so far, the artist is mum about whether a new album is coming anytime soon. For now fans can content themselves with another beautiful ballad from Sweden’s best folk-rock export and a string of live dates through Europe and the U.S.
