Hamilton‘s Leslie Odom, Jr. will take the stage with music legend Phil Collins for the opening ceremonies of the 2016 U.S. Open under the new retractable roof in Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY.
The Tony Award winner will perform the National Anthem accompanied by FDNY Color Guard and NYPD Honor Guard to kick off the tennis tournament in Odom’s hometown of Queens. Odom gained critical and audience wide acclaim in his role as Aaron Burr in the Broadway smash Hamilton.
Odom will also sing a duet with Grammy and Oscar-winning Collins, whose performance was announced last week. The appearance marks Collins’ first major public showing in years; he’ll perform his iconic single “In the Air Tonight.”
The opening ceremony for the 2016 U.S. Open will air on Aug. 29 on ESPN2.
