In the new drama Imperium, Daniel Radcliffe plays an FBI agent who goes undercover — and gets a shaved head — to infiltrate a group of white supremacists building a dirty bomb. Our question: Who exactly was responsible for shearing the Radcliffe noggin? The answer is the Harry Potter star himself, as viewers will see when Imperium is released on Aug. 19 in theaters and on demand.

“It was very important to both of us that it be captured for real on film; it’s an emotional moment for the character as well,” says Imperium director Daniel Ragussis. “On the day, everyone on the crew was nervous and excited. It was one of those ‘you’re only getting one take of this!’ moments. We only had one camera so we had to get it right. It was definitely surreal — like the character himself, we were all taking a big step into the unknown when he started using those clippers! And after that moment, there was no looking back.”
