Bones has got spunk.

As Fox’s veteran procedural heads into its 12-episode final season, two TV veterans will be on hand to show it out: EW can confirm that Emmy winners Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) and Hal Holbrook (Sons of Anarchy) will guest on Bones‘ 12th season.

Asner is set to appear in the third episode of the season as Mike Mancuso, who makes a kindly first impression but turns out to be a duplicitous wise guy. Holbrook will play Marine Corp veteran Red Fletcher, whose “strong and silent” personality makes him akin to an older version of Booth (David Boreanaz). TVLine first reported the casting news.

After a game-changing season finale that brought the characters face to face with their past, it’s only fitting that they’ll get to glimpse their futures, too.

Bones returns in 2017.
