Patricia Arquette and Rainn Wilson are set to star in the film Permanent, an ’80s comedy about a family obsessed their hair.
The coming-of-age story is set in 1983 in a small town in the South and follows the members of an idiosyncratic family who yearn for artistic fulfillment and to achieve peak ’80s hair. Colette Burson (Hung) will write and direct, and Michael Green and young newcomer Kira McLean round out the cast.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with two incredibly strong and funny women like Colette Burson and Patricia Arquette on Permanent,” Wilson said in Monday’s announcement. “I also couldn’t be more thrilled to be wearing a toupee and dressing exactly like my dad circa 1982.”
Permanent — which will feature toupees, perms, and the tagline “hairstyles are temporary, but family is forever” — starts filming this summer in Central Virginia.
