A Los Angeles-area Denny’s was treated to an off-menu treat on Friday: the pipes of Dick Van Dyke.

Fresh off appearing on the local Fox affiliate’s morning show, Good Day L.A., the 90-year-old actor and singer dropped into the restaurant with his a cappella group, The Vantastix. As their meal wrapped up, the group broke out into song — the theme for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Naturally, a crowd gathered, and people pulled out their phones to capture the moment.

Van Dyke appeared on Good Day L.A. to talk about the upcoming paperback release of his memoir, Keep Moving. The 90-year-old told the show he felt 50, and that his mentality is what keeps him young. “Your perspective is everything,” he said. “Some people say [age is] only a number and those kind of things — that’s baloney: It’s a number.”
