Umm, did Ryan Murphy just mix up his shows? The newest teaser for season 6 of American Horror Story feels more like something more in line with his spoofier anthology series Scream Queens.

The new clip, entitled “Blind Date,” features a blond woman in pearls and a pink dress melodramatically screaming “I have to get back to my sorority” as she’s dragged underwater by a large green monster. But there’s a surprise happy ending when the woman’s hand rises from the water, lovingly entwined with the monster’s.

It’s quite a cheesy departure from the legitimately creepy season 6 promos that AHS has already released. Recent promo videos have included insects crawling on faces, a terrifying, other-worldly beast, and a wind chime made of human teeth.

Confused? Well, apparently you should be. According to FX CEO John Landgraf, these teasers are actually misdirects as to what the theme of season 6 will actually be. So just enjoy these weird mini movies and wait to see what this new chapter actually has in store when season 6 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. ET.

An anthology series that centers on different characters and locations, including a haunted house, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, and a hotel.
