A few days after a big cast shakeup at SNL, there was a big behind-the-sceens promotion: Writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider have been elevated to co-headwriters for the upcoming season (the 42nd!), NBC has confirmed.
The pair have penned such sketches as “The Beygency,” “(Do It On My) Twin Bed,” and “Bar Talk.” There is no official statement on how the change affects last year’s co-headwriters, Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker.
Kelly has written episodes of Broad City and the Sundance film Other People, and Schneider is known for her writing/acting work at CollegeHumor.
Earlier this week, SNL let go six-year vets Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah, along with newcomer Jon Rudnitsky.
Splitsider first reported the news.
