The Inglourious Basterds actor returns to the World War II era again in the film directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Walk), only this time he’s going behind enemy lines with Marion Cotillard for a high-profile assassination.
As illustrated in the footage, Pitt plays a British intelligence officer, Max Vatten, who’s sent on a deadly mission to Casablanca, where he meets a French Resistance fighter, Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard). Reunited in London, their budding relationship is threatened during the intensity of the war.
“It was crucial for Brad and Marion to not only begin rehearsing together before the shoot, but they also spent a lot of time developing their characters with the director, Robert Zemeckis,” producer Graham King told PEOPLE. “By the time we got to set, it was really amazing to see these characters already feel lived in and real.”
Allied will debut in theaters on Nov. 23.
