A character on The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be coming out this season.

“One of the characters on one of the shows is going to be exploring their sexuality and coming out,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Thursday. “We’re very excited about that.”

The producers declined to reveal the character, which show, and whether they were male or female. “It is a significant character,” EP Greg Berlanti said. “The only reason we wouldn’t [say] is we really want the audience to enjoy the character developments and not necessarily be ahead of the storyline.”

The announcement comes on the heels of The CW announcing that the CW Seed has picked up Freedom Fighters: The Ray, a new animated series about the titular DC hero who will be openly gay — and could eventually appear in real life on Arrow much in the same way Vixen (Megalyn E.K.) did.

Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET; The Flash returns Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET; Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET; and Legends of Tomorrow returns Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
