Last night was plenty exciting, what with Americans like Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles, and Michael Phelps making us proud. The Games continue tonight with men’s diving, men’s gymnastics, beach volleyball, and, yes, more swimming.
ALFRED ET FRANCOIS
HBO, 9 p.m.
The documentary film gets the likes of Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, and more to discuss the legacy of two of cinema’s most lauded directors, American suspense master Alfred Hitchcock and French new-wave auteur Francois Truffaut.
TBS, 9 p.m.
TBS has guaranteed the goofball comedy another season, and it’s easy to see why: Tribeca has found its groove and broadened beyond the police-procedural world — it now gleefully spoofs everything from electoral politics to prison dramas (ahem, Orange Is the New Black). That also applies to tonight’s episode, titled “Electoral Dysfunction.”
