Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and former star of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, looked back on his creative child on the production’s one-year anniversary.

Hamilton opened a year ago today,” he tweeted next to a photo of fireworks. “Look at where you are. Look at where you started. #Grateful.”

Miranda portrayed the title role of Alexander Hamilton in the musical, which earned a record 16 Tony nominations and an impressive 11 Tony wins — including for Best Musical.

July 9 marked Miranda’s final performance in the production, after which he chopped off his luscious Hamilcut. He was replaced on stage by actor Javier Muñoz.
