Miles Teller is a real-life hero, which is why he declared this week “Hero Week” on The Tonight Show Thursday night before diving into the story of how he saved a pregnant woman and her child from a shark.

Last summer, paparazzi photos hit the internet showing the actor leading a woman out of the water at Miami Beach. His girlfriend, model Keleigh Sperry, wrote about the experience on Instagram at the time, confirming she thought there was a shark in the water.

Teller had some fun with the story, telling host Jimmy Fallon that Jonah Hill was “spreading some rumors, some lies.” He said, “I wish Jonah was there because it would’ve been another life that I saved, honestly.” He added, “Also the other fact in this story, Jonah said he was napping. He took a nap because acting is really hard.”

Watch Teller set the record straight in the video below.
