Daisy Ridley: Star Wars actress narrates new Eagle Huntress trailer
The Eagle Huntress
- Movie
Daisy Ridley became a symbol of female empowerment as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now the actress is using her talents for another budding heroine: Ridley narrates the story of 13-year-old Aisholpan in the documentary The Eagle Huntress, which just debuted a new trailer.
In Aisholpan’s Kazakh family of eagle hunters, the tradition is typically passed down from father to son — but the film follows the teen’s journey to break the mold and become the first female eagle hunter in 12 generations.
Directed by Otto Bell with cinematographer Simon Niblett, The Eagle Huntress is set against the luminous backdrop of the Mongolian steppe.
“I was deeply moved by Aisholpan’s story and wanted to be a part of this beautiful film,” Ridley, who also serves as executive producer, told Deadline. “I feel audiences and young girls around the world will be as inspired by her story as I was, and I am so proud to share her journey with the world.”
The Eagle Huntress will open in New York and Los Angeles Oct. 28. Watch the trailer above.
