Oliver Stone enjoys watching cat videos as much as the next legendary director, but in a new PSA, he asks audiences to turn off their phones during the movie — and possibly forever.

In the PSA titled “Turn Off Your Phone,” the Snowden director urges moviegoers to turn their phones off and keep them off. “It allows certain parties to track your every move. Every time you make a call, send a text, we are giving them access,” Stone says in the dramatic video. “The information you’re putting out into the world voluntarily is enough to burn your life to the ground.”

Snowden, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, invades theaters on Sept. 16.
