The Princess Diaries: Anne Hathaway celebrates film's 15th anniversary
The Princess Diaries turns 15 on Wednesday, and star Anne Hathaway celebrated her time as normal teenager-turned princess Mia Thermopolis on Instagram with a sweet, grateful post including a GIF of Mia dancing.
“It’s been 15 years (say it with me) SHUT UP!!!!!,” Hathaway began in her caption, referencing Mia’s notable line (see that in the trailer at 0:32). “To all the fans who have loved Mia, Louie, Lily, Joe, Michael and, of course, Queen Clarisse, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
She then turned to the late Garry Marshall, who directed the film and died last month at the age of 81. “And to Garry Marshall, thank you for making me a princess. I love you always my beloved friend and teacher, and I miss you every day xx.”
Hathaway also remembered Marshall in other Instagram posts, which you can see here and here. For more on The Princess Diaries, see the cast before they were stars and take our trivia quiz.
