In the new film Edge of Winter (out Aug. 12), Joel Kinnaman plays a divorced, and recently unemployed, man named Elliot Baker who takes his sons Bradley (Tom Holland) and Caleb (Percy Hynes White) on a shooting trip — a trip that turns into a nightmare as the brothers realize that the man responsible for keeping them safe has now become their biggest threat.

“It’s a real character-driven piece which I’m really proud of,” says Holland, star of the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. “It’s the first movie that I really just did on my own. My parents had no idea what it was about. I was just like, ‘Oh yeah, by the way, I’m going to Canada for a for a month.’ I was really proud to have achieved that on my own. The director, Rob Connolly, it’s his first piece, and I really think he pulled it off. I was a little worried — because I actually didn’t know it was his first film until I got there. But, then, after the first day of work, I thought, ‘This guy has got this.'”

Is Holland not aware that you can look up such things on the IMDB website? “Yeah, but there’s, like, six different Rob Connollys on there,” he says. “I was like, ‘Ah, I’m sure he’s cool.'”
