Things are about to get more dramatic than ever on the new season of RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race. RuPaul is flipping the script on how the seasoned queens will be eliminated — instead of the bottom two contestants lip-syncing for their lives, the top two performers from each will will lip-sync for their legacies!

For all eight seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the one All Stars season prior to this, RuPaul would decide who to eliminate after the bottom two contestants gave a lip-sync performance. But this time around, that power is in the hands of each week’s lip sync winner, who will vote out the queen of their choosing.

The twist adds a new layer of strategy to Drag Race — for the first time, alliances and planned gameplay similar to what is found on vote-to-eliminate competitions like Survivor and Big Brother could arise. Given many of the season’s contestant’s have worked together in the past, it will be interesting to see how this more cutthroat style of elimination will shake up the dynamic.

In case you needed a reminder, the 10 queens returning for season 2 of All Stars are listed here, and the new season will kick off Thursday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. ET, and will be simulcast on both Logo and VH1. Check out the new trailer below.
