Now you can cross Snake River on a tabletop. The popular classroom computer game The Oregon Trail has been resurrected as a card game.
Pressman Toy’s take on the pioneer adventure game can support a party of two to six players, ages 12 and up. Players trek from trek from Independence, Missouri to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The game includes a laminated dry-erase board roster, trail cards, supply cards, and — of course — calamity cards that will put your party through the ringer. “We have done our best to build in all sorts of gruesome, 19th century ways for you, your friends, and your family to die along the trail,” Pressman Toy president Jeff Pinsker says in the instructional video.
Last year, Oregon Trail nostalgics were given access to the beloved 1971 game for free, thanks to an online archive of 2,400 classic MS-DOS games.
The game is on sale for $12.99 as a Target exclusive. (Cholera is not included.) See the instructional video below.
