'Respect for my brother filmmakers,' he tweeted
Suicide Squad writer-director David Ayer issued an apology Monday evening for dropping an F-bomb on his rival superhero filmmakers at Marvel.
At the premiere of the DC Comics-inspired movie in New York City, Ayer had been on stage — later joined by cast members including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and Viola Davis — when he repeated an audience member’s exclamation of “f‑‑‑ Marvel!”
Shortly after, in a mea culpa posted to Twitter, Ayer said, “Sorry about getting caught up in the moment and saying f*ck Marvel. Someone said it. I echoed. Not cool. Respect for my brother filmmakers.”
Suicide Squad opens Friday.
