Katy Perry: Orlando Bloom wrote a line of her DNC speech
Did Orlando Bloom inspire part of Katy Perry’s Democratic National Convention speech?
“Lando put that one in,” Perry wrote – along with a heart emoji – in response to a message on Twitter quoting the singer’s DNC speech, “‘It’s not where you come from but what you grow into’ @katyperry #DNCinPHL.”
On Thursday, before performing her songs “Rise” and “Roar,” Perry, 31, spoke to the audience – which included her current flame, Bloom – to exercise their right to vote.
“I don’t have a formal education, but I do have an open mind and I have a voice,” she said. “So I’m asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice.”
Perry – who has been an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton’s campaign since the beginning – continued, “Because on November 8, you’ll be just as powerful as an NRA lobbyist. You’ll have as much say as any billionaire. Or, you can just cancel out your weird cousin’s vote if you like.”
She finished: “Remember, it’s not where you come from, it’s what you grow into.”
The couple, who started dating earlier this year, was spotted in Malibu this month where Bloom, 39, hosted Perry at his home.
“They have been more low-key lately and seem more private about their relationships,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “They act like they are more serious.”
